AI compresses creative work — reduces brain activity, idea diversity, and originality

Insight: Multiple academic studies now document AI's compression effects on creative work: MIT Media Lab found ChatGPT use reduces brain activity in attention, memory, and planning; Wharton/Nature showed AI-assisted brainstorming narrows idea diversity; Science Advances found AI improves polish while reducing originality. Value is concentrating among those with systems thinking and judgment, widening gaps between experts and generalists.

Detail: The "Raised Floor Trap" (coined by Hang Xu): AI makes baseline output easy but doesn't make integration, orchestration, or delivery inside real teams easy. Most people reach adequacy; very few compound value. Additionally, AI UX itself blocks growth — systems can't interpret user capabilities and gaps, creating a ceiling even for dedicated users.
