100% AI-generated code is achievable in production monorepos¶
Insight: By June 2025, a practitioner reports 100% of PRs in a production monorepo (not just greenfield projects) were written entirely via AI coding tools (Cursor), with zero human-authored code outside the chat window. The developer is now permanently in "reviewer mode." This milestone was reached faster than predicted — the same practitioner had estimated it wouldn't happen until 2028+. Yet 81% of adults still hardly use any AI at work, indicating a massive adoption gap between early adopters and mainstream.
Detail: The progression was rapid: 15% AI-generated (October 2024) → 70% (March 2025) → 100% (June 2025). Beyond coding, AI has replaced: search/research (Google reflex replaced by contextual LLM queries), and advice-seeking (questions previously directed to mentors/managers now handled by LLMs with right context). The key insight is that "the world (opinions, applications, processes, policies) moves much slower than the technical progress" — there is consistently more hype than realized potential, but also more potential than what's currently achieved.
