Agentic design systems: DS+AI constrains AI to design system materials

Insight: Brad Frost introduces the "DS+AI" formulation (deliberately not "AI+DS") where AI agents assemble UIs using production design system components. The key distinction from vibe coding is that DS+AI deliberately constrains AI to using high-quality design system materials, ensuring generated output adheres to organizational standards. He also introduces "mouth coding" — non-technical team members verbally describing features during collaboration sessions while AI generates implementations from design system foundations.

Detail: Demonstrated alongside Storybook's new MCP server, which helps teams generate UI by wielding component libraries. Frost positions this as enabling new collaborative workflows between disciplines where everyone can see features come to life using production-grade foundations. He and his team launched an "AI & Design Systems" course to teach these workflows.
